About mediation
What is mediation?
The aim of mediation is for everyone to find and agree a workable solution that will last.
Mediation is voluntary.
Your right to an appeal hearing by an SEN Tribunal is not affected, whether you agree to mediation or not.
It is confidential.
Nothing you say in mediation can be used without your permission.
The mediators will not take sides and must be acceptable to everyone.
Ideally, points of agreement will be written down. Everyone who attends the joint meeting should have authority to sign such agreement. This agreement is not a legal document, but will be used for future arrangements for your child.
